Feature article on Social and economic wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability released. The following data cubes have been released supporting the analyses in the feature article:

  • Selected socioeconomic characteristics, by disability status, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons aged 15 years and over — 2014–15
  • Selected wellbeing indicators, by disability status, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons aged 15 years and over — 2014–15.

Also released are fact sheets presenting snapshots of results for all the states and territories from the 2014-15 NATSISS. A .pdf version of all of the fact sheets combined is available from the Downloads section.

Two additional data cubes on alcohol consumption risk levels from 2002, 2008, and 2014-15 NATSISS (based on 2009 NHMRC guidelines for single occasion and lifetime risk levels for alcohol consumption), disaggregated by state/territory and sex are released.

Correction in the 2014-15 NATSISS Data Item list to the description of the response category number 13 for the item, 'Main reason did not study for (an/another) educational qualification in last 12 months'.

Amendment to tables 14.2 to 14.5 of the data cube, Stressors, by sex and remoteness — 2014 –15: correction to data for 'Time since most recent experience of homelessness'.

Note that there are no further changes to the 2014-15 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander data.

Amendments to tables 1.1 to 1.5 of the data cube Selected characteristics, by remoteness and Indigenous status — 2002 to 2014–15:
  • Correction to the 2008 data for 'Able to get support in time of crisis from outside household' in tables 1.1 to 1.5. Significance testing annotation added for statistically significant difference between 2008 and 2014–15.
  • Correction to the 2014 non-Indigenous 'Unemployment rate' data in tables 1.3 and 1.4.
  • Correction to the 2002 and 2008 data for 'Speaks an Australian Indigenous language' in tables 1.4 and 1.5.
  • Correction to the 2002 data for 'Able to get support in time of crisis from outside household' in table 1.4.
  • Minor updates to some 2002 data due to rounding errors in tables 1.3 and 1.4.

Note that there are no further changes to the 2014-15 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander data.

Amendments to data cubes:
  • In tables 20.3, 20.4 and 20.5 of the data cube Labour force characteristics, by state, remoteness and Indigenous status — 2014–15, the denominator for the proportion of people employed full-time and part-time has been changed from 'all persons aged 15–64 years' to 'employed persons aged 15–64 years'.
  • Updated data for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 20–24 years, and 20–64 years in tables 21.1 to 21.5 of the data cube Selected education indicators, by state and Indigenous status — 2014–15. Previously these data excluded those who were enrolled in a school institution. These data now include all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 20–24 years, and 20–64 years. These populations form the denominator for calculations of some of the proportions presented in table 21.3.
  • Updated data for non-Indigenous people aged 17–24 years in tables 21.1 to 21.5 of the data cube Selected education indicators, by state and Indigenous status — 2014–15. Previously these data included all non-Indigenous people aged 17–24 years. These data now exclude non-Indigenous people aged 17–24 years who were in school level education. This population forms the denominator for calculations of some of the proportions presented in table 21.3.
  • Updated the non-Indigenous margins of error (MoE) in table 21.5 of the data cube Selected education indicators, by state and Indigenous status — 2014–15.
  • Updated data for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 20–24 years, and 20–64 years in tables 22.1 to 22.5 of the data cube Employment and education indicators, by remoteness and Indigenous status — 2014–15. Previously these data excluded those who were enrolled in a school institution. These data now include all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 20–24 years, and 20–64 years. These populations form the denominator for calculations of some of the proportions presented in table 22.3.

Amendments to the Data Item List:
  • Types of selected stressors experienced by self, family or friends in last 12 months — population updated from 'Selected persons aged 0–14 years' to 'Selected persons aged 15 years and over'.
  • Number of instances of threatened physical violence in last 12 months (Remote only) — values range updated from <0..99> to <1..99>.
  • Most recent experience of being without a permanent place to live — updated to include <multiple response> in data item label.
